CURSED

Cursed is a fun little film and of course features on of my all-time favourite babes, Christina Ricci. That was reason enough for me to watch this but even better, it is directed by none other than Wes Craven (nightmare on elm street, Scream and many more besides).

THE PLOT OF CURSED

Ellie (Ricci) and her brother Jimmy (Jesse Eisenberg) are driving down Mulholland drive, and get distracted when they hit an animal causing their car to swerve off the road and take out another car travelling in the opposite direction. The pair of course get out to help but in the process of helping the other driver the a wereweolf (They don’t know its a were wolf at this point) drags off the other driver and inflicts some serious scratches on Jimmy and Ellie. Its not really hard to guess what happens here, as the two of them slowly change into werewolves and gain awareness of the situation they now find themselves in. Can Jimmy and Ellie control this new aspect of their personalities?I guess you’ll have to see the film yourself to find out!

THE VERDICT

The film itself is quite well shot, and the werewolves look pretty good I have to say. It’s not much of a thinker but is as good as it needs to be and of course Christina Ricci shines in this film. Infact while the film isn’t bad, it’s probably the main reason to watch this one. The hardened gore fiends that read this may not be queueing up to watch this but sometimes it’s nice to watch an easier going horror film that you could watch with early teenagers. Despite the star power and directorial punch behind this film it seemed to fly under the radar at the box office, not even making back production costs. Can’t win ’em all, I guess.
