BLOOD FOR DRACULA

Well this is something different, Blood for Dracula is a bit of a different take on the usual story. The movie opens up with Dracula, not keeping good health. He is fading. In this movie Dracula is living in Romania with his family, none of whom appear to be doing that well health wise. His assistant suggests he relocate to Italy where he can find a virgin girl from whom Dracula can feast on virgin blood.

The Count makes his journey into Italy and takes up at a public house for the night. There he talks to a couple of the locals about the prospect of marrying a morally intact virgin girl. One of the locals suggests a certain DeFiori family with four beautiful daughters. At first the Count is not too impressed by Italy, but his assistant is a lot more positive about the situation.

Meanwhile, the above mentioned family catch wind of the Count being in town and discuss the merits of marrying off one of their daughter, as their family is running out of cash and marrying off a daughter could be the cash injection the family needs.

Anyway it’s not long before the family agree to meet with the count and show off their beautiful daughters to him. The only hiccup in this other wise perfect plan is that Dracula needs a virgin, and two of the sisters are having “their feilds plowed” by the gardener / maintainence man.

Anyway its not long before the count engages in conversation with one of the daughters. Despite her potestations, the count is not convinced of her purity. He sinks his teeth into her and her non virgin blood makes him sick.

Overall, I really liked this retelling of a story I’ve probably seen over 100 times in various versions of the movie. It is well directed and superbly shot. The costumes and set designs are impeccable. the sisters are all babes (there’s a fair bit of nudity, but really who’s going to complain about that) So maybe don’t watch it around your parents but this is a strangely erotic and capitivating retelling of a story we all know and love.
