Here’s one I’ve been looking for, for a while. Eat the Rich is neither the best movie or anything that will get hailed as a classic but I like it. It’s got a dark sense of humour about it and besides being written by the “Comic Strip” folk (Those guys responsible for bringing you the “Young ones” and “Bad News” this also features a bit bart from one of the coolest people ever, Lemmy from heavy rock group Motorhead.
The Movie follows the plights of Alex a waiter who wants more out of life than working in snooty resteraunt and finds himself sleeping roughly after getting fired in spectacular fashion. Whilst setting in on a rainy night on the street, Alex witness a Russian terrorist attack and Home Secretary “Nosher” walks in on the siege and sorts it out with a good bit of the ole knuckle. This of course raises “Nosher’s” profile in the upcoming elections in a big way. This of course angers the agents that organised the mission and they decide to go after “Nosher”.
Meanwhile Alex robs a social security branch and hides out in the country side with his new friends and decide to start some sort of violent 4 man revolution. and Nosher continues with his antics poling the electorate in more ways than one. Our four loveable insurgents head back to Alex’s original resterant and slaughter the entire contingent of diners and staff as their first act of rebellion. . The ourlovable insurrectionists then re-open the venue serving up the corpses of the previous slaughtered guests. Meanwhile Nosher (at the suggestion of the Russian operative) is trying to make up with his wife and asks her out to dinner. Yep you guessed it …
The next issue beyond this is do the Russian spies manage to stop the rise of “Nosher” Powell? How long can these guys get away with serving up human meat in their resteraunt? Well you’ll have to watch the movie to find out!
This is a likeable black comedy with a twist at the end. Like I said before its not a classic of the genre but its a fun watch.
