RESURRECTION

This one is a cross between a crime and horror, but the horror content in Resurrection is quite full on. I’d say from the outset this will appeal to people who liked the movie “Seven”. Aside from Christopher Lambert there’s no real high bill stars in this movie, but that’s cool, it allows us to focus on the movie rather than the actors in it.

The plot revolves around police officer, John Prudhomme who, like most police officers in these movies is suffering from past trauma and seeking redemption. His personal life is falling apart and he still mourns the loss of his little boy who died in a tragic road accident. He finds himself on the case investigating a particularly gruesome serial killer. John (played by Christopher Lambert) is a thorough cop leaving no stone unturned and eventually figures out that the killings are related to passages from the bible. With the help of other officers they profile the killer as an extremely smart, cunning and religiously bent male. With a point to prove.

Body after body starts being uncovered and there is indeed a very sinister and religiously based connection between all the killings. I won’t spoil it, but let’s say its pretty good! Prudhomme of course starts work on tracking the killer down and fighting what is a rather intellectual opponent and his own inner demons. Can the officer come out on top? We’ll you’ll have to watch the film to find out for sure!

The plot to Resurrection is quite well done. At no point in the film does any of this feel half-arsed or slapped together. All the actors do their part in this film and the gore / violence is quite well done and confrontingly real. I previously compared it to the film Seven, and while I’ll say it’s not quite up there with that movie, it’s still a pretty decent watch over all and definitely worth checking out if you find a copy in your travels or online. Overall I enjoyed it.
