BLOOD SABBATH

Time for some more vintage horror with “Blood Sabbath”. These are great to just veg out to when you’ve had a hard weekend of parenting and are basically brain dead from watching Disney / Pixar movies for the entirety of a cold wet weekend. Anyway Blood Sabbath has that ripped directly from VHS feel, and was another one I found in a pack of like 10 DVDs. These kind of movies that come in bulk packs can be a real punt. Some are good, some total crap and every now and then you find a gem. I’d take a punt the copyright on these movies have expired (or was bought really cheaply) and some enterprising soul has put them together and released it as a bulk pack with little to no outlay save the cost of the media duplication.

The movie opens up in what I’d have to assume is the late 60’s (right after Vietnam) with a hitch-hiker walking down the highway by himself. He falls asleep in a forest and is awoken by a beautiful blonde girl. He’s not sure if it’s a dream or not, later is rescued by an old man. The visions of the blonde girl continue to haunt him and he ends up meeting her in the forest. For some reason she refuses to be with him but genuinely seems to like him. The old guy that rescued him hints strongly he should leave. Turns out the old guy works for a witch cult of scantily dressed women to whom he owes a yearly sacrifice

Of course curiosity gets the better of our friend and he sneaks around and tries to find out what is going on with the witches and finds himself under their spell. Totally fair really as they are pretty hot and like to get their clothes off. He then offers the witches his soul in exchange for the witches sparing an innocent child’s life. Also he’s totally hot for one of the witches so giving up his soul could be a way to get in with her. It turns out the girl that he fell for “Yala” is also interested in him and this brings about the anger of the coven leader. How does this movie end? Well, you just have to watch the movie to find out!

Basically this movie is B grade pulp. The story is good enough that you watch it anyway and the pretty witches (That just can’t seem to keep their clothes on no matter what they do) don’t hurt this movies watchability either. It’s a shame the movie wasn’t shot with better equipment, as the picture quality is quite grainy, because this could have been really cool.
