OK, its been a while since my last post, I have to be honest I’ve been busy with general life stuff so its been a bit hard to get time to watch much in the way of horror films. It was a great to get this slab of B grade goodness in the mail to kickstart me into getting back into the horror flicks I love.
Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers from 1988 is an unashamedly B grade movie, with plenty to boobies, blood and guts. While they are not perseuing an overly intellectual experience, at least whatever it is they were going for, they did it well. This is a great way to switch the brains off sit back and enjoy the ride.
This romp follows the exploits of Private Investigator Jack Chandler who is searching for Samantha (Played by B Grade scream queen Linnea Quigley). His inquiries get him mixed up in a crazy world of prostitution where the unwitting clients are turning up dismembered. The plot isn’t overly complicated but it does get a little more involved when Chandler uncovers links to a cult that worship the Egyptian god Anubis. The hookers are looked after a mysterious gentleman played by Gunner Hansen (Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre). Either way its enough to keep the viewer entertained but not enough to distract from the copious amounts of nudity and violence.
The gore is a little hammy by todays standards but its all good fun. If you liked movies like blood diner or blood feast then Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers would probably appeal to you. There’s probably not a lot of point analysis this film beyond this. Just grab a pizza with plenty of cheese, some beers and switch off the brain and you’re set for an hour and a half of fun!
