The Void is scary stuff. Its a strange film based around the premise of a group of people that get stuck in a hospital. Various events conspire to put them there in the first place. Once there however they have to band together to survive.
Shit starts to fall apart within the hospital when one nurse removes her face and kills a patient. What caused her to remove her face? What connection did she have with the patient? After the strange start to the film things get worse and The hospital and our unwitting heroes find themselves surrounded by a strange occult group. What do they want? Well basically they are drawn to the place by a strange occult power. Something nasty is growing in the hospital and it would appear to be feeding off some strange occult force. I thought this film has the feel of something that HP Lovecraft may have written. Turns out it was something that HP Lovecraft had written just one of the stories I hadn’t red yet! Basically if you like HP lovecraft film adaptations you will like this one, epeically tales like ‘The Beyond’ and ‘Dagon’
The void is ultra violent (in the same league as films like Re-animator etc…) and there are some amazing special effects on offer here. This is not a film for the faint of heart or the easily offended. Im going to say its not the greatest film in the world but its a rip roaring ride of blood and guts. One thing I should point out is that you need to be in a good frame of mind (Ie: not hungover) to fully appreciate this there’s a lot going on in this film and its hard to absorb if your mind is elsewhere.
